I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the two fighters confronted each other to promote next month's boxing match.

Former two time world boxing king Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Fighter's Mindset

"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to genuinely try to injure him. That's my goal."

Respectful Exchange

Despite those words, a composed Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he showed up," the boxer said.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.

Paul's History

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Success

Still, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's biggest financial successes, regularly earning huge financial rewards.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old anticipated a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would derail the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly in the works for 2026.

"It will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters participated in the traditional confrontation, with their size difference clearly visible, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is really proceeding.
